The government is keen to promote small and medium industries in the district, as they would ensure local employment and spur economic activity in surrounding areas, Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy said on Sunday (February 22, 2026).

He said that a new micro, small and medium enterprises park would be developed at Kondakaram, located on the outskirts of Vizianagaram. He said that 12 acres of land have been identified for the development of the MSME park, which would have all the facilities, including a dedicated water supply, electricity, internal roads and others.

He said that the entrepreneurs can start their industries in the MSME park.

The Collector said that the government was planning to promote industries at all places, including Bobbili, Rajam, Kothavalasa and other places. According to him, Vizianagaram Revenue Divisional Officer D. Keerthi, Industries Department General Manager Karunakar, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Zonal Manager M. Muralimohana Rao and others have been directed to hold meetings regularly for the development of MSME parks in all areas of the district.

Meanwhile, Vizianagaram Chamber of Commerce president Kapuganti Srinnivas urged the government to identify land for the development of new markets in Vizianagaram-Gajapathinagaram, Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam route for hastening the pace of economic activity in the district. He said that the existing PW market constructed many decades ago did not have sufficient space for loading and unloading of goods. He said that parking has also become a major concern for the visitors to the market.
