Days after seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MPs, six of them from Punjab, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Punjab Police have reportedly filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) under non-bailable Sections against Sandeep Pathak, one of the MPs who made the switch, even as the move drew sharp criticism from Opposition parties in the State, who termed it a settling of political scores.
The BJP on Saturday (May 2, 2026) alleged that the FIRs were a “planned conspiracy” to distract people from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s alleged “drunk state” during the proceedings of the State Assembly on May 1.
