In a series of three government orders, the Telangana government announced a major, but expected administrative restructuring, on Wednesday (February 11, 2026), dividing the newly-reorganised Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three separate municipal corporations.

The three Corporations

The region within the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road will have three civic bodies: the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, comprising the Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Qutbullapur zones; the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation, covering Malkajgiri, Uppal, and L.B. Nagar zones; and the restructured Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, which now includes the remaining areas including Shamshabad, Rajendernagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, and Secunderabad zones.

Commissioners

By a separate Government Order (G.O.), the Government notified that R.V.Karnan, shall continue in the post of Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. G.Srijana, Additional Commissioner, GHMC is transferred and posted as Commissioner, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. While T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, Additional Commissioner, GHMC is transferred and posted as Commissioner, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation.

According to the official notification, each newly constituted municipal corporation will function as a separate corporation with perpetual succession and a common seal, operating under the provisions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955. The GHMC

Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary to the Metropolitan Area & Urban Development Department, signed the reorganisation order, which came into immediate effect. In a related development, Mr. Ranjan was appointed as Special Officer for all three municipal corporations, as announced in a separate government order signed by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.
