The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) on Sunday (September 21, 2025) said party president and member of Parliament Engineer Rashid had completed 30 hours of hunger strike inside the Tihar Jail in Delhi.

“Mr. Rashid has completed more than 30 hours of his 48-hour hunger strike inside the Tihar Jail and has now entered the second day of his protest,” AIP spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said.

The AIP said Mr. Rashid announced his hunger strike on Saturday (September 20, 2025) in a letter addressed to the Director General of Prisons. “The protest is aimed at calling out the hypocrisy of both Indian and Pakistani governments which are busy celebrating cricket diplomacy and Asia Cup theatrics, while ignoring the unending pain, sacrifices and human rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mr. Nabi said.

He said the hunger strike was not just a personal sacrifice but a moral outcry against the hypocrisy of Indian and Pakistani governments and a reminder of the unending sufferings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who continue to pay the heaviest price.
