An election control room has been set up in Cuddalore district to receive complaints on violation of the Model Code of Conduct, District Election Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar has said.

Addressing journalists on Monday, he said flying squads and static surveillance teams had assumed charge in their respective areas. Video surveillance teams had been formed to monitor the enforcement of the Model Code in the district.
The district has nine Assembly constituencies – Thittagudi (Reserved), Vriddhachalam, Neyveli, Panruti, Cuddalore, Kurinjipadi, Bhuvanagiri, Chidambaram, and Kattumannarkovil (Reserved). As per the final electoral rolls released in February, the district has 20,15,796 voters with 9,91,527 men, 10,23,976 women and 293 others.
In each Assembly constituency, nine flying squads, nine static surveillance teams, and one video surveillance team have been deployed. The teams would be on duty round-the-clock and keep a vigil against distribution of cash or gifts. The teams would be deployed in three shifts round-the-clock.
Cuddalore district has a total of 2,590 polling stations. Of them nine booths will be entirely manned by women while one booth will be entirely managed by by persons with disabilities.
Mr. Kumar said surveillance was strengthened at six check-posts located near the inter-state border with Puducherry. Day and night resolution cameras, that can rotate 360 degrees have been installed at these check-posts while CCTVs have been deployed at 10 check-posts on the district border.

All political parties and candidates should submit online applications seeking permission from the District Election Officer 48 hours earlier, to conduct election meetings. The applications must be submitted through https://suvidha.eci.gov.in.
No wall writings, party flags, advertisement hoardings, wall posters, and writing of slogans is allowed in the urban areas of the Corporation, municipalities, and town panchayats even with the permission from the landlords.
In rural areas, wall graffiti and writing of slogans should not be done on private land and buildings without the permission of the landlords.
No Government land or buildings should be used for erection of party flags, putting up hoardings, and wall writings.
The Collector appealed to political parties and candidates to cooperate with the administration by strictly following the Model Code of Conduct.
