The Anti-Corruption Bureau has conducted a surprise check at the Assistant Labour Office in Kodada, Suryapet district, and detected multiple administrative irregularities, including prolonged pendency of applications and improper maintenance of records.

As per the information shared by the department, inspection was carried out on January 24 by the Nalgonda unit of the ACB at the Assistant Labour Office, Kodada. Officials found that a large number of applications were pending or incomplete, pointing to serious deficiencies in timely disposal and record-keeping.

During the inspection, the ACB noted the unauthorised absence of K. Tulasiram, Junior Assistant, attached to the office of the Assistant Labour Officer, Kodada. As many as 430 incomplete applications were found pending in the office without any intimation being sent to the applicants or beneficiaries concerned. Records and applications were also found to be improperly maintained.

One application was flagged as suspicious in connection with a board-approved natural death claim of a deceased worker pertaining to the year 2024. Overall, the number of pending applications in the office stood at 1,593 at the time of the inspection.

The pending applications relate to fresh registrations, renewals after completion of five years, and claims for marriage and maternity benefits for daughters of registered workers, amounting to ₹30,000. They also include death claims for natural and accidental deaths, amounting to ₹1 lakh and ₹6 lakh respectively.
