Kerala Chief Minister and Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Pinarayi Vijayan is set file his nomination papers from the Dharmadam Assembly constituency on Thursday (March 19, 2026), marking the first submission in Kannur district for the upcoming elections.

Mr. Vijayan is scheduled to submit his paper at 11 a.m. at the District Registrar office in Thalassery. This is the third time he is seeking a mandate from Dharmadam.

The LDF is hopeful of securing a higher majority than in the previous election. However, the contest in Dharmadam has intensified with the entry of UDF candidate V.P. Abdul Rasheed.

Mr. Rasheed has been drawing significant public attention through roadshows across the constituency, with large crowds attending his campaign events. UDF workers are also energised by the presence of a young candidate leading the fight.
