Two youths killed in road accident on Chennai-Bengaluru Highway

Two youngsters were killed in a road accident after a car hit the two-wheeler in which they were travelling at Minnur village near Ambur town in Tirupattur on Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH-48) on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as residents of Minnur village S. Sanjay, 19, and R. Gunal, 20. Initial inquiry revealed that along with their friend M. Bharat, 18, a local, the trio were riding a two-wheeler on the stretch when a car hit the two-wheeler. The two-wheeler rider, Gunal, was trying to cross the accident prone stretch when the incident occurred around 3 p.m.

In the impact, two youths were killed on the spot while Bharat was badly injured. Other motorists and passersby rescued the injured person immediately and admitted them at Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town. They also alerted Ambur Taluk police, who inspected the spot.

The occupants in the car, which had a Karnataka registration number plate, fled the spot. Special teams have been formed to nab the the car driver. A case was registered and a probe is under way.
