Twenty-nine passengers had a narrow escape after a private sleeper bus operated by Vihari Travels caught fire near Chityala mandal, in Nalgonda district of Telangana, on National Highway 65 in the wee hours of Tuesday (November 11, 2025).

The bus, which was travelling from BHEL in Hyderabad towards Nellore, was completely gutted in the blaze. The incident was reported around 1.30 a.m., according to officials from the Chityala police.

“A fire suddenly broke out in the bus. On receiving the distress call, our team along with fire officials rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control,” a police official said. Meanwhile, the passengers with the help of the driver and conductor escaped the bus.

No injuries were reported in the incident. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Passengers were seen asking a man to bring their luggage containing gold, from a bus which caught fire near Chityala in Nalgonda district on November 11, 2025. Another man was heard urging people not to be near the bus on fire, if petrol tank explode.
