The security personnel at the central prison of Parappana Agrahara in Bengaluru caught a 29-year-old prison warden red-handed while he allegedly attemped to smuggle a phone for an inmate, on Thursday (October 23, 2025).

The accused, Amar Praje, was allegedly caught while he was trying to get inside the prison hoodwinking the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force personnel. Based on a suspicion, he was stopped and frisked to find a mobile phone concealed in his undergarment.

He was handed over to the prison superintendent who later filed a case with the police seeking a detailed probe.

Amar is allegedly suspected to have helped inmates to smuggle contrabands inside the prison for a price even earlier.

The police are further investigating to ascertain the possible involvement of others in the racket .

It may be recalled that as many as seven prison officials were suspended over dereliction of duty after a rowdysheeter celebrated his birthday inside the prison by cutting cakes and wearing an apple garland. A video of the bash, recorded on a mobile phone, went viral.
