Two men were apprehended by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda Zone, along with Gudimalkapur police, for alleged involvement in narcotic substance peddling and seized 5.100 kg of marijuana, the total value of which is estimated at ₹2.60 lakh.

The accused were identified as Hazari Dinesh Singh alias Tinku Singh, 31, a driver from Amlapur, Tappachabutra, and Shankar Singh, 43, an auto driver from Shivlal Nagar, Kumarwadi, Dhoolpet. Police said Hazari Dinesh Singh was allegedly operating as a peddler, while Shankar Singh was assisting as a sub-peddler.

According to the police, both are natives of Hyderabad and were previously involved in cases related to narcotic substances. Hazari Dinesh Singh was earlier arrested by various police of Goshamahal, Mangalhat, Tappachabutra, Yacharam and Humayun Nagar. Shankar Singh was previously arrested by Afzalgunj police in connection with a marijuana case.

Investigators said the two allegedly began selling marijuana due to financial constraints, pooling money to procure the contraband, and sharing profits. Hazari Dinesh Singh is alleged to have sourced the substance from a supplier identified as Ashraf alias Ashwaq from Nanded in Maharashtra. He would reportedly travel to Nanded, procure the material, transport it to Hyderabad, repackage it into sachets of around 10 grams each, and sell them to customers.

Acting on credible information, the Task Force and Gudimalkapur police intercepted the accused and seized the contraband. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Gudimalkapur Police Station. Investigation is under way.
