SP chief Akhilesh visits BJP MLA who suffered burn injuries while burning his effigy, pushes for social harmony, positive politics

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday (April 28, 2026) visited BJP MLA Anupama Jaiswal at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, where she is undergoing treatment after sustaining burn injuries while burning his and other top Opposition leader’s effigy during a protest.

The SP leader pushed for harmony and positive politics. Sharing the picture of his hospital visit on the social media site X, Mr. Yadav wrote, “We don’t want a fire to ignite within society. We want a spark of harmony in society. Our healthy tradition of positive politics has taught us this. That’s why we visited BJP MLA Ms. Anupama Jaiswal and wished her a speedy recovery. Politics has its place, and the importance of human relationships has its place. Let there be harmony, let there be harmony,”.
