The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday (September 26, 2025) condemned the detention of Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk, with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal alleging that India is witnessing “peak dictatorship” and warning that those drunk on arrogance and tyranny will face a “terrible downfall”. The party also held a candlelight vigil for Mr. Wangchuk near Jantar Mantar on Friday evening.
“Ravana’s end also came. Kansa’s end also came. Hitler’s and Mussolini’s end also came. And today, people hate all those individuals. Today in our country, dictatorship is at its peak. The end of those who practice dictatorship and arrogance is very bad,” Mr. Kejriwal said in a post on X.
Senior AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the BJP government has fallen into a state of mental bankruptcy. “The arrest of Sonam Wangchuk is a symbol of Hitler-style dictatorship. Stopping the people of Ladakh from protesting will spark a massive public uprising,” he said.
