Dismissing reports of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) likely joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the ensuing Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, party president Vijay on Wednesday (March 18, 2026) asserted there is no compromise in his party’s stand on “secular social justice” principles.

Speaking at an iftar event organised by the party at Mamallapuram, 60 km south of Chennai, Mr. Vijay said from the very beginning of his entry into politics, many rumours have been spread about his party being a proxy of some other party. “Rumours were being spread that we were part of this team and that team. There is no such team. We belong only to the people’s team,” he said.

“After realising this, attempts were made to spread other kinds of slander, but none of them worked. Finally, they began a false campaign claiming that we are going to join an alliance,” he claimed. “You may feel confused hearing such news. I would like to make it clear again that we will always stand for secular social justice principles without any compromise,” Mr. Vijay said. He also insisted his party will lead the government, if voted to power.

“As I said in the party’s first State conference, there is no room for compromise in our politics. Do not believe any false propaganda. With the blessing of God, we will achieve our target,” he added.
