Tense moments unfolded in Ettumanur on Monday (October 13, 2025) when a protest march by Youth Congress workers demanding the resignation of Devaswom Minister V. N. Vasavan turned unruly.

The march, which began around 12.30 p.m., was intercepted by the police using barricades. As the protesters refused to disperse, the police used water cannons to control the crowd. A brief scuffle broke out and several protesters were taken into custody.

Angered by the police action, the remaining demonstrators blocked traffic on the busy M.C. Road, causing disruption for about 15 minutes before they too were detained by the police.
