The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Friday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment process and sought the dismissal of Education Minister Nara Lokesh over the issue.

The demand was raised during a protest organised by the party’s student wing near the Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue at Daba Gardens. The programme was held following a call given by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, according to party leaders. Participants paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar before staging the demonstration.

Addressing the gathering, YSRCP Visakhapatnam district president K.K. Raju alleged that the coalition government had failed to fulfil its promises to unemployed youth. He said the alliance had assured employment opportunities for 40 lakh unemployed persons and a monthly unemployment allowance of ₹3,000 until jobs were provided, but had not honoured these commitments after coming to power. He also alleged that candidates who had secured eligibility in the DSC examinations on merit had been subjected to injustice and called for a CBI inquiry into the recruitment process.

Mr. Raju alleged that the government had neglected commitments made during the election campaign and demanded that it disclose the number of jobs created in both the public and private sectors since assuming office. He contended that the alleged irregularities had caused distress among job aspirants and asserted that the YSRCP would continue to raise issues concerning those affected.

Among those present were coordinators former MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, MLCs Varudu Kalyani and Kumbha Ravibabu; and several party leaders and activists.
