The Hindu Sustainability Dialogues, in partnership with Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), will bring together leading academics, subject matter experts, policymakers and industry stakeholders for a dialogue on sustainability on January 6, 2026.

The event, to be held at Saveetha Medical College, Thandalam, Chennai, will centre on practical and forward-looking solutions to address India’s growing environmental challenges.

The initiative will be inaugurated by Soumya Swaminathan, chairperson of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, in the presence of N. M. Veeraiyan, founder and chancellor of SIMATS, Chennai, along with other distinguished guests.

Dr. Swaminathan will deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for the day’s discussions and underlining the need for collaborative approaches to sustainability.

Designed as a platform for knowledge exchange and actionable insights, the programme features three thematic sessions covering critical areas of sustainability. The opening panel, “Future of Waste Management: Innovation, Technology and Behaviour Change”, will examine how integrated strategies combining policy, technology and citizen participation can help transform waste management systems in our cities.

This will be followed by a session on “Recycling, Recharging, Restoring – The New Imperatives for Water Management”, which will focus on sustainable water governance, infrastructure resilience and technological interventions.

The event will conclude with a fireside chat with Ashwani Kumar, vice-chancellor, SIMATS, Chennai, on “Sustainable Campuses – How Institutions Can Lead India’s Green Transition.”

Journalists from The Hindu will moderate the sessions. To Register: https://newsth.live/SSDLPA / or scan the QR code.
