Operation Night Safety and Operation Vajraprahar to enhance safety and security during nights and to crackdown on drug menace respectively were conducted in various parts of the district from the early hours of Sunday (March 29).

To strengthen law and order and for enhancing field-level policing, Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh conducted surprise inspections in the city early on Sunday morning as part of Operation Night Safety. The SP personally monitored key junctions, major roads, and sensitive areas from 2 a.m. until dawn. He visited locations including Saptagiri Circle, Tower Clock, RTC Bus Stand, Gooty Road, Old Town, Kalyandurg Road, and other areas.

During the inspection, Mr. Jagadeesh reviewed vehicle checking procedures and instructed officials to take strict action against drunk driving. He directed the use of breath analysers and emphasised enforcing rules strictly against violators.

He also instructed police personnel to stay vigilant for suspicious movements during nighttime and to intensify checking operations. On the occasion, Mr. Jagadeesh told police officials that public safety should be top priority, and police personnel must remain alert and respond immediately to anyone in distress during nighttime.

Along with the SP, Trainee IPS officer Ashwin Manideep, Anantapur Urban DSP V. Srinivasa Rao, city Circle Inspectors (CIs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs), and other staff participated in the operation.

Meanwhile, cordon and search operations were held across various parts of the district as part of a crackdown on drug peddling. Police officials counselled the old offenders against indulging in drug peddling, property offences and any other anti-social activities and warned of action, if they don’t mend their ways.

Police officials conducted searches in residential areas, parks and open areas and verified the documents of vehicles. A total of 37 two-wheelers and two cars without valid documents were seized by the police.
