The Tamil Nadu government has failed on several fronts, including protection for women, ensuring social justice, economic growth, education and welfare of government employees, said Tamilisai Soundararajan, former Telangana Governor.

She told the media in Coimbatore on Monday that women in Tamil Nadu do not have protection. The State needs a change in power and there is a cultural war going on in the State now. The State government’s attention on social justice is on the decline.

Pointing out that a Scheduled Caste woman, who serves as a temporary cook under the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme, was allegedly prevented from doing her job, she said such incidents are distressing. While the Tamil Nadu government organises conferences for women, it does not pay attention to the needs of nurses, teachers and conservancy workers. The nurses pointed out during the protests that their basic rights were violated and these indicate the state of governance in the State, she said.

Congress leader Praveen Chakravarty has pointed out the loan burden of the Tamil Nadu government and said that by paying women ₹1,000 a month, the State government is increasing the loan burden on the people.

Anyone who criticises the State government is branded as “sanghi”. It is wrong to call anyone who hails culture, language, and tradition as “sanghi”.
