SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has launched an Artificial Intelligence-powered recruitment agent for faculty hiring.

The platform, named Scout, was developed in collaboration with Prayag.ai, a company that helps businesses adapt AI into operations. Scout automates the recruitment workflow, from resume screening to the final interview evaluation, analysing job descriptions, identifying competencies and skills required for the role, and evaluating candidate resumes on that basis, a press release stated. The platform has provisions for secure facial biometric authentication of candidates, followed by knowledge assessments and conversational AI interviews where questions are generated based on the candidate’s resume and the job requirements, the release added. It also has an AI-based malpractice monitoring system and generates a comprehensive evaluation report and an AI-generated recommendation supported with reason.

At the launch, C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, said it was the first university to introduce AI-powered agent for faculty recruitment. P. Vaidyanathan, CEO, Prayag.ai, said Scout was designed to simplify recruitment while providing evidence-based insights to support better hiring decisions.
