After expressing gratitude to the State government for implementing industry reforms based on their suggestions, the Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels’ Association (ASHA) has urged the government to consider introducing two more reforms that are aimed at boosting tourism in A.P.

They submitted their suggestions for introducing a beach shack policy and a depot flexibility and self-transport. The beach shack policy has a structured framework with long-term licensing, wider service permissions including full range of liquor, and initial preference for classified hotels to ensure quality and global-standard beach tourism, they said.

Meanwhile, a delegation, comprising association president R.V. Swamy, general secretary S. Murthy Chittoory, and others met Revenue (Excise) department Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena on Monday (April 06) to thank the government for implementing reforms recommended by the association earlier.

The reforms include microbrewery permissions for classified hotels, a step that is expected to enhance the State’s tourism; availability of premium liquor and new brands through bottle indent, which will enable hotels to meet the expectations of high-value domestic and international guests; and removal of pricing disparity between retail shops and hotel bars, which ensures fairness and improves competitiveness of hotels in meetings, conferences, exhibitions, weddings, and corporate segments.

These decisions will strengthen investor confidence and position Andhra Pradesh as a preferred destination for tourism and hospitality, they said.
