A man, arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life by the Fast Track Special Court for expeditious trial and disposal of rape and POCSO cases at Kukatpally on Wednesday.
The court also slapped a fine of ₹50,000 on the accused and awarded ₹10 lakh as compensation to the victim.
The accused, identified as Shankarampeta Anil Goud, 34, a labourer was arrested by the Jagadgirigutta police in April 2024 for sexually assaulting the victim over an extended period, beginning when she was in Class V and threatening to kill her if she disclosed the abuse.
A case was booked against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
