The Telangana government has decided to construct permanent buildings for 60 Tahsildar and five Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) offices in the first phase across the State to ensure dignified and citizen-friendly public services, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said here on Wednesday.

Addressing a review meeting with senior officials at the State Secretariat, the Minister said the move was aimed at delivering more transparent, accessible and efficient governance to the people.

He stated that in the first phase, permanent buildings with modern amenities would be constructed for 60 Tahsildar offices and five RDO offices currently functioning in rented premises.

In the second phase, around 170 Tahsildar and RDO offices operating from dilapidated or unsuitable buildings would be reconstructed. All new buildings will follow a uniform design to ensure accessibility and public convenience. The final designs will be approved after consultations with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he said.

“Government offices should not continue in rented buildings. Centres that deliver public services must function in a dignified environment,” he said, noting that the decision aligns with the Chief Minister’s vision of strengthening administrative infrastructure while keeping costs reasonable and ensuring high-quality services.

The Minister criticised the previous government for undertaking mandal reorganisation without proper planning or foresight, resulting in administrative complications, including some mandals falling under multiple district jurisdictions. He also pointed out that several offices lacked basic facilities and suffered from severe staff shortages.

Highlighting reforms in the Stamps and Registration department, the Minister said the government has initiated the construction of integrated, state-of-the-art buildings. Within the Outer Ring Road limits covering Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy districts, 39 Sub-Registrar offices have been grouped into 12 clusters for the development of integrated complexes.

Foundation stones have already been laid at Gachibowli, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Patancheru. Construction at Gachibowli is in the final stages and is expected to be operational within a few months, he said.
