Two persons were killed and another sustained minor injuries after a speeding SUV rammed into a roadside vendor’s shed at Durganagar of Mailardevpally in the early hours of Wednesday (December 17, 2025).

The deceased were identified as Prabhu Maharaj, 55, and his younger son Deepak, 25, both natives of Madhya Pradesh. Prabhu’s elder son Sathunath, 27, suffered minor injuries and later lodged a complaint with the police.

According to Mailardevpally Inspector B. Satyanarayana, the accident was reported around 5 a.m. when an SUV carrying five students was travelling from Aramghar towards Durganagar X Roads. The vehicle, being driven rashly and negligently, went out of control near Durganagar ground and crashed into the vendor’s shed, where the three victims were asleep.

The five occupants of the vehicle, all around 22 years old and residents of Santoshnagar and nearby areas, were returning from a reception and had stopped for tea at Aramghar before the incident.

The driver, identified as Syed Hussain, 22, of Santoshnagar, has been taken into police custody. Officials said preliminary inquiries indicated rash and negligent driving, though the driver was not under the influence of alcohol.

A case has been registered at Mailardevpally police station and further investigation is underway.
