Meenakshi Arunachalam, wife of noted industrialist late M.V. Arunachalam, passed away at her residence in Chennai on Tuesday morning. She was 92. She is survived by three children – elder son A. Vellayan, daughter Valli Annamalai, and younger son A. Venkatachalam. She hailed from Kanadukathan.

Her daughter Ms. Annamalai recalled, “She began her schooling in a village before moving to her maternal grandparents’ home in Chennai to continue her education. She later attended Queen Mary’s College. She got married at the age of 16 when she was studying.” “She was very good with the family and took care of everybody well,” she added. A gifted hand at embroidery, she would make hand towels, table cloth and encourage others to prepare pickles and other eatables. She used to sell all this.

She found joy in giving – often collecting the proceeds from sales to donate for noble causes. According to details shared by family members, the final rites will be held on Wednesday.
