One more amoebic infection death in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram district reported one more death due to amoebic meningoencephalitis on Wednesday.

A 77-year-old woman from Chirayinkil, who had been undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, died on Wednesday, taking the total number of amoebic meningoencephalitis deaths in the district to seven. Not much is known about how the woman could have contracted the infection.

Thiruvananthapuram has been reporting the highest number of amoebic infection cases in the State. As on Tuesday, the State has reported 149 cases, of which Thiruvananthapuram accounts for 48 cases.
