In a swift response, the Hoysala patrolling teams rescued two women in distress in separate incidents reported on Saturday.
In the first incident, personnel attached to the K.R. Puram Police Station rescued a woman who allegedly attempted to end her life following a domestic quarrel. The police said a distress call was received through the Namma-112 emergency helpline around 4.14 p.m. regarding a homemaker at Ayyappa Nagar who was under severe emotional stress and attempting to end her life.
The Hoysala-220 personnel, including woman assistant sub-inspector P. Veena and head constable Raghavendra, reached the spot within nine minutes and rescued the woman. Upon their arrival, they discovered that the woman had locked herself inside the house and was in a state of severe emotional distress.
The officers counselled the woman, provided emotional support and reassurance, and also advised her husband.
In another incident, personnel attached to Tilak Nagar Police Station rescued an elderly woman who was found unconscious on the roadside at D.K. Nayaka Nagar in Jayanagar 5th Block around 8.38 a.m.
Following an alert through Namma-112, the Hoysala-208 staff, including assistant sub-inspector Lakshman Rathod and police constable Kiran, rushed to the spot within eight minutes and shifted the woman to safety. The woman was later identified as 65-year-old Sharadamma. As she had no caretaker, the police admitted her to the Air Humanitarian Home at Bannerghatta for care and shelter.
