“I am a strong aspirant for Cabinet Minister post and I believe the high command will consider my candidature,” Congress MLA Yashavantaraygouda V. Patil said in Vijayapura on Monday.

“Some senior leaders have promised me that I will be made a Minister in due course of time. I expect them to keep their promise and make me a Minister in the coming reshuffle. However, if I am not made a Minister, I will not quit the Congress. I am a loyal worker of the party and will stay here till my last breath,” Mr. Patil, who is from Indi in Vijayapura district, told reporters.

He claimed that three legislators have been thus promised.

He claimed that no elected representative from Indi taluk has ever served as a Minister in the State Cabinet since Independence. “Given a chance, I will work harder to develop my taluk,” he said.

“I am completing 38 years in public life. I was a zilla panchayat member four times and MLA four times. I have conducted myself with utmost integrity. My political career has been without a single blackspot. No one can raise doubts over my work,” he said.
