NSO marks 75 years of National Sample Survey with seminar at Kollam

The National Statistics Office (NSO), Regional Office Thiruvananthapuram, under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, in collaboration with Sree Narayana College, Kollam, organised a programme on Tuesday to mark the 75th anniversary of the National Sample Survey (NSS).

The programme, titled STAT’OSPHERE 2025, focused on the theme ‘Role of National Sample Survey in the Nation’s Progress and Economic Development.’ It featured a seminar, plantation drive, and an NSO-themed flash mob aimed at highlighting the significance of statistics in policy-making and national development.

The programme was inaugurated by Sunitha Bhaskar, additional director general, Field Operation Division, New Delhi. A special panel discussion on ‘Role of Citizens in Sample Surveys’ was also held, which underscored the importance of public cooperation in ensuring credible statistical data for the country’s socio-economic planning.

S.V. Manoj, principal, S.N. College, Kollam, Vibeesh E.M., deputy director general, Kerala and Lakshadweep Region, NSO, Regional Office, Thiruvananthapuram and others spoke.
