Man found dead with head injuries in Vanasthalipuram, murder suspected

A man was found dead by the roadside near the Panama area in Vanasthalipuram on Sunday morning. Three teams have been formed to identify the victim, analyse the CCTV camera footage in the area and ascertain the circumstances leading to his death.

According to the Vanasthalipuram police, local residents spotted the body near the ART Theatre and alerted the authorities. A police team rushed to the scene and found the body with head injuries caused likely due to an attack using a sharp weapon. Preliminary probe suggests the victim, aged around 50 years, was murdered.

The body was shifted to a government hospital mortuary where it has been preserved for identification.

A case has been booked by and further investigation is underway.
