District Collector O. Anand has constituted a three-member committee to probe the death of a one-and-a-half month-old baby at a Shishu Gruha in Anantapur. In a statement issued on Sunday (October 05, 2025), the Collector said that the committee will have DM&HO Dr. O.B. Devi, ICDS project director M. Nagamani and Government General Hospital paediatric Head of Department Dr. Ravikumar as members. The committee was asked to conduct a detailed enquiry and submit a report immediately.

“Based on the findings of the report, action will be taken against those responsible for the death of the baby,” the Collector said, and added that the incident will be reviewed at the higher level constantly.

On Sunday evening, the committee members visited the Shishu Gruha and questioned the facility manager Deepti, social worker Lakshmi Devi, ayahs, ANMs and coordinator separately.

There were allegations that that some ayahs and workers did not feed milk to the baby leading to death. The committee members said that a detailed report will be sent to the Collector.
