Bharatiya Janata Party legislature party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy on Sunday (December 28, 2025) called for a longer winter session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly to enable detailed discussion on a range of public issues.

Addressing the media at the party’s State office, Mr. Reddy said there were apprehensions that the session, scheduled to begin on Monday, might be concluded within two or three days.

He said several pressing concerns required sustained deliberation, particularly issues affecting farmers. Alleging that farmer suicides were continuing, he said the government had failed to fully implement its promise of providing ₹15,000 under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, limiting assistance to ₹12,000 for only one season.

The BJP MLA also raised concerns over irrigation, stating that the government had not held a comprehensive discussion in the Assembly on issues related to interstate water sharing from the Krishna and Godavari river basins.

Referring to urban development, he questioned the government’s move to promote real estate projects under the banner of a ‘Future City’ and asked whether the Chief Minister was willing to discuss the issue on the floor of the House.

He also sought clarity on whether the government was prepared to debate alleged attacks on temples and the functioning of the Endowments Department. Mr. Reddy accused the government of harassing employees by proposing the merger of the RTC and questioned the lack of action against alleged irregularities of the previous regime.

He further alleged that the proposal to abolish elected Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies and replace them with political appointments amounted to a conspiracy.
