Writer, academician Leela Prasad dies after prolonged illness

Assistant Professor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Gunta Leela Varaprasad died of prolonged illness in Shyamsundarapuram village of Tekkali Assembly constituency of Srikakulam district in the early hours of Sunday.

Mr. Leela Varaprasad started his career as a journalist in 1995. He has written several books on the issues of North Andhra region which caught the attention of many academicians and research scholars of the State. He also penned several books on the political service of veteran public representatives and their contribution to the society.

Vice Chancellor of Ambedkar University K.R. Rajani expressed shock over the sudden death of Dr. Leela Varaprasad and recalled his contribution to the journalism profession over the last three decades. Andhra Pradesh Journalists Forum’s State Secretary Sasanapu Joginaidu, association’s Srikakulam district president G. Shanmukha Rao and others recalled their association with Dr. Varaprasad.
