Telugu Desam party is the only political entity that serves the interest of its cadre and takes care of the welfare of party activists, former Union minister and president of TDP Tirupati district unit Panabaka Lakshmi said.

She garlanded the statue of the party founder and former Chief Minister late NT Rama Rao at the party’s 44th Foundation Day celebrations here on Sunday (March 29).

Speaking to the media later along with Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) chairman and the party’s general secretary C. Divakar Reddy, AP Greening and Beautification Corporation chairperson M. Sugunamma, TDP State media coordinator B. Sridhar Varma, State organising secretary Mabbu Devanarayana Reddy and Deputy Mayor RC Munikrishna, she said the party had withstood all odds at the height of the previous ‘oppressive’ regime to bounce back to power, thanks to the perseverance of the party activists.

“The party workers are TDP’s pillars. The TDP will always be grateful to its cadre,” she said.

Ms. Lakshmi said the party would leave no stone unturned to take the State ahead in the path of development, under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Mr. Divakar Reddy and Ms. Sugunamma said the party would strive to develop Tirupati as a modern city by retaining its spiritual values, drawing inspiration from party founder NT Rama Rao.
