Police have arrested a 28-year-old woman for allegedly murdering her husband following a domestic dispute in Varthur, eastern Bengaluru, on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Rajeev Rajput, 28, a labourer. According to the police, the incident occurred early Thursday morning at their house in Munekolalu near Varthur. The accused, identified as Rubina Kaur, has been arrested in connection with the murder.
The police said Rajput returned home in an inebriated state on Wednesday night and picked argument with Kaur over trivial issues. The argument grew intense after midnight, following which Kaur allegedly fetched a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Rajput, the police said.
The police told The Hindu that Rajput sustained severe injuries to his stomach and chest, resulting in heavy blood loss. The commotion alerted neighbours, who rushed to the spot and found Rajput lying in a pool of blood. One of them alerted the police helpline, after which a Hoysala patrol team was dispatched to the scene, leading to Kaur’s arrest.
The Varthur police have booked Kaur under Section 103(1), which deals with murder, of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
