Heavy rain accompanied by a hailstorm lashed several parts of Hyderabad on the evening of Tuesday (March 24) leaving many areas waterlogged and triggering severe traffic congestion across the city. Commuters spent hours travelling from their workplaces to homes. Many people took to social media showing the size of the hail caught by them.

The downpour coincided with peak evening hours, when office-goers were returning home, worsening the situation on major roads. Traffic came to a near standstill at several locations, with long queues of vehicles reported across key stretches. In the IT corridor around Gachibowli, Biodiversity Junction, commuters reported that only a stream of red tail lights was visible amid the gridlock.
