The founder and chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), G. Viswanathan, met Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi on Thursday.

According to a press release, Mr. Viswanathan urged the Minister to accelerate the remaining works at the new airport in Vellore on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48) and make it operational at the earliest. The Minister has assured that the airport would be inaugurated soon and flight services would begin shortly, the release said.
