Reiterating the Union Budget for 2026-27 was a huge disappointment to the people of Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said they would teach a lesson [to the NDA] in the ensuing Assembly elections due in the State this year.
During an interaction with reporters at Chennai on Tuesday (February 3, 2026), to a query on the Budget, Mr. Stalin said: “I have said it earlier. There was only disappointment. We expected there would be some change. There was no change. We only got disappointment.”
The Budget was a “huge disappointment” to the people of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Stalin said. Replying to a query on this being an election year, Mr. Stalin said: “The people will teach a lesson for this!”
In another interaction, when asked for his message to his political opponents, Mr. Stalin said, “I don’t consider anyone as enemies, I only see them as friends.”
Mr. Stalin inaugurated a multi-storeyed building with a blood purification unit constructed in his Kolathur constituency by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority at a cost of ₹11.74 crore.
The first floor houses a physiotherapy centre, while the second floor houses an artificial limb centre. Dialysis procedures are to be offered on the third floor, and various facilities for patients will be on the fourth floor.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated six ration shops in the same premises. He inaugurated a park established near the Kolathur lake that offers recreation facilities to the residents of the area. Mr. Stalin also distributed books, laptops among others to students and other beneficiaries.
