The Madhapur police have registered a case against a man for allegedly posing as a journalist at a programme attended by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at a private hotel in Madhapur on Friday (November 28). The case was booked following a complaint from a local journalist identified as Shaik Mohsin Ali.

According to police, confusion arose during the event when media personnel noticed the man carrying multiple microphones bearing logos of various national news channels. When questioned by reporters, he allegedly failed to provide a convincing explanation for his presence or the equipment he carried.

The police were then alerted, and he was brought to the Madhapur Police station for inquiry.

Police said the suspect, identified as Avneesh, claimed that he had been invited by a public relations representative and the microphones were provided by news channel representatives from Delhi. The claims are currently being verified, said an official close to the investigation.

A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
