Ongole police on Wednesday arrested two men, who allegedly stole a bag with cash and gold jewellery worth ₹20.30 lakh, and recovered the items from them.

The accused were identified as Hari Om and Vikas, both from Sansi village in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh. They stole the bag from Gundavarapu Kishore Kumar, while he was busy with the preparations of his daughter’s marriage at Brindavanam Kalyana Mandapam in Ongole, on November 27, 2025, at 10 p.m.. The bag contained close to 158 grams of gold jewellery and ₹1.35 lakh cash.

Under the supervision of Prakasam District Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Harshavardhan Raju and Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao, Ongole Taluka Circle Inspector (CI) T. Vijaya Krishna formed a special team to conduct an investigation.

After investigating from all angles and with the help of technology, the special team members arrested the accused at their native village in Madhya Pradesh. They also recovered the cash and jewellery worth ₹20.20 lakh from them.
