A sitting bench of the Supreme Court should inquire into the stampede at the TVK meeting in Karur, which has claimed 39 lives, State BJP president Nainar Nagenthran said on Sunday (September 28, 2025).

“We cannot blame anybody right away; the incident needs to be thoroughly probed. On behalf of the State BJP unit, I request the Supreme Court to take up a probe immediately,” he told journalists in Karur.

“The entire country has been shaken by the shocking incident. It is a great tragedy; so far 39 have died and one person is in a critical condition. We convey our deep regret and condolences to the families of the victims,” he said.

Mr. Nagenthran paid respects to the dead and calling on the injured at the Karur Government Medical College Hospital along with senior party leaders Tamilisai Soundararjan and Pon. Radhakrishnan.
