Forest Minister Eshwar B. Khandre has given clearance for constituting a leopard task force with 59 personnel to look into the leopard menace in Tumakuru district.
According to an official release, the proposed task force will operate in Kunigal, Thiptur, Madhugiri, Pavagada, and Koratagere of Tumakuru, which are facing the leopard menace.
The Deputy Conservator of Forests of Tumakuru will lead the task force which will comprise Assistant Conservator of Forests, a veterinary doctor, one Range Forest Officer, four Deputy RFOs, eight forest guards, five drivers, and 40 personnel to be outsourced, stated the release.
The task force will keep a vigil on villages facing leopard menace and take immediate measures to trap the leopard if there is any case of leopard entering the villages or fields of farmers.
The task force would operate in coordination with the district administration.
