Kanchi Kamakoti Peetaadhipati Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal released the reprinted edition of “Acharya’s Call” – the twin volumes of discourses of the Mahaperiyava, Jagadguru Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal, given during the years 1957-1960 brought out by The Hindu.

After offering the books at the Brindavanams of Mahaperiyava and Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya  Swamigal at Kancheepuram, the pontiff gave the first copy to Nirmala Lakshman, Chairperson, THG Publishing Private Limited, The Hindu Group.

During the Acharya’s stay at the Madras Sanskrit College in the years 1957-58, he blessed the devotees with daily discourses on various topics of our Dharma, Vedas, Shastras, Puranas, Itihasaas, Sthala Mahatmyams, philosophy and culture.

These were recorded by the then Deputy Chief Reporter of The Hindu, V. Ramakrishnan, and reported in The Hindu, within the constraints of space and other limitations. V. Ramakrishnan, then, with the encouragement from The Hindu family, wrote and compiled all the speeches of The Mahaswami in full, with Sanskrit quotations, etc. This was brought out as the twin volumes as “Acharya’s Call” in 1964 as a tribute on the occasion of the 75th Jayanti of Mahaperiyava. The book was reprinted in 1995 and in 2022.

Recently, the book has been reorganised with subject-wise categorisation to make it easy for the readers, and this reprint has been published and released during the auspicious Ugadi and Sri Rama Navami Mahotsavam. A similar chronicle of the Mahaswami’s talks in Chittoor district during the years 1930-1932 has been published as “The Chronicles of Kanchi Acharya.”

Sridhar Aranala, Chief Sales & Distribution Officer, K.G. Gurumurthy, Head-Pre-Press and R. Srinivasan, Head – Magazines and Special Publications of The Hindu Group were present. The cover price of the book is ₹400. It can be purchased by visiting The Hindu online bookstore at https://publications.thehindugroup.com/bookstore/.
