The `Teppotsavam’ of Goddess Bhramaramba and Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy scheduled for Tuesday (November 18) at Patalaganga had been put off owing to increase in water levels in River Krishna.
The management of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, Srisailam had planned to conduct Teppotsavam for the first time in the waters of river Krishna at Patalaganga on the auspicious `Masasivaratri’ day on Tuesday, as part of the ongoing Karthika Masotsavams.
Srisailam dam officials informed the temple management that the water levels in the project as on Sunday night stand at 883.20 feet (205.6 tmc ft) and power generation is going on continuously. This might lead to sudden change in water levels, dam officials said.
Srisailam temple Executive Officer M Srinivasa Rao said the conduct of Teppotsavam has been postponed in view of security and safety concerns and asked devotees to take note of the same.
Temple officials said Teppotsavam used to be conducted in the temple pond (koneru) during Mahasivaratri or Dasara festivities. The management had planned to conduct the ritual in river Krishna this time to attract more devotees.
