Tension prevailed at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus in Hyderabad on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) evening, following a confrontation between two student groups over a rally held in solidarity with Palestine.

According to officials, around 6:15 p.m. on October 7, a group of nearly 100 students led by student organisation representatives including Vikas, Deena, Shaheen, Aardhra and Noor, conducted a rally inside the campus without obtaining prior permission from the university authorities.

The students raised slogans in support of Palestine and against Israel, displayed Palestinian flags and posters, and pasted them on the canteen walls with the words “EFLU for Palestine”.

Soon after, another group of around 30 students, belonging to a different student organisation led by Abhishek and Sumith, objected to the posters and attempted to remove them. This led to heated arguments and a scuffle between the two groups, with slogans from both sides.

The situation briefly turned tense before police arrived and brought the matter under control. Based on a complaint from the EFLU registrar, the Osmania University police registered a case against both groups. Further investigation is currently underway.
