Stalker stabs schoolgirl to death in Rameswaram

A 17-year-old schoolgirl was stabbed to death reportedly by a stalker at Sethupathi Nagar in Rameswaram on Wednesday (November 19, 2025) morning. 

The police said the girl, a student of a government-aided school in Rameswaram, had been subjected to stalking for more than two years by a 21-year-old man, Muniyaraj, a resident of Serankottai who works as a fisherman.

On Wednesday morning, while the girl was on her way to school, the accused confronted her near Sethupathi Nagar and stabbed her in the neck, the police said.

Onlookers rushed the girl to Rameswaram Government Hospital, where doctors declared her ‘brought dead’. The accused later surrendered at the Rameswaram police station. Further investigation is under way.
