Selvaperunthagai, Anbumani flay Union govt. notification exempting critical mineral mining from public consultation

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai and Anbumani (who was expelled from PMK by his father) condemned the Union government’s notification exempting mining proposals of 30 atomic, critical, and strategic minerals including tungsten from the ambit of public consultations.

In a post on X, Mr. Selvaperunthagai said the notification by the UnionMinistry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change amounts to taking away rights of States and democratic rights of people.

He urged  the Centre to withdraw the notification.

In a separate post on X, Anbumani (identifying himself as president of PMK) said the move would affect the livelihoods and safety of people.

It amounts to taking away States rights and peoples rights to express their opinion and it is unacceptable, he said and urged for withdrawal of the notification.
