The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced that the parking access control system at the Bhoiguda entrance (Platform No. 10 side) of Secunderabad station has been temporarily lifted to facilitate faster passenger movement. Passengers have been advised to use the basement parking facility at this entrance for smoother flow.
Meanwhile, to manage the festival rush, additional train stoppages have been introduced from January 7 to 20, with halts provided for 16 trains at Hi‑Tech City, 11 trains at Cherlapalli, and temporary stoppages for 10 trains at Lingampalli up to April 30. Baggage screening facilities have also been arranged at Platform No. 1 at Lingampalli.
Passengers have been urged to make use of these temporary stoppages and to reach stations well in advance during peak hours. The expected daily footfall during the festival period is estimated at 2.20 lakh passengers at Secunderabad, 50,000 at Lingampalli, and 35,000 at Cherlapalli.
To handle the increased passenger load, ground operations teams comprising TTEs and RPF personnel have been deployed at Secunderabad. Additional TTEs and RPF staff have been posted at entry and exit points across major stations. A dedicated CCTV surveillance control room has been set up, and a 24×7 war room is operational at the divisional headquarters.
CPRO A. Sridhar said in a press release that multiple measures are underway to ensure smooth crowd management during the festive season. Secunderabad station currently has 17 booking counters and 20 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) in operation. Passengers are being encouraged to use the ‘RailOne’ mobile application for ticketing services, which offers a 3% discount on unreserved tickets.
All construction sites around the stations have been fully barricaded as a safety measure, and obstructions at entry and exit points have been cleared to ensure free movement of passengers.
