Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday (March 5, 2026) said delays in issuing essential certificates due to the ongoing strike by Revenue Department employees were severely affecting students and farmers, and urged the Tamil Nadu government to hold talks with the protesters.

In a statement, he said around 42,000 officials and staff of the Revenue Department had been on strike since February 24, and that the government had not taken steps to resolve the issue.

Dr. Anbumani said the strike had disrupted government services and affected the public, particularly students who require community, income, and other certificates issued by the Revenue Department. With March 8 being the last date to apply for the NEET examination, many students who had applied for these certificates earlier were yet to receive them, he said.

Farmers were also facing difficulties, he said, noting that paddy growers must submit adangal land records certified by Village Administrative Officers to sell their produce at direct procurement centres. Due to the strike, farmers had been unable to obtain these documents, resulting in lakhs of paddy bags piling up at procurement centres, he said.

He also alleged that instead of initiating talks, the government had resorted to arrests after Revenue Department employees began road blockade protests.
