The Congress party workers led by its women’s wing launched a poster campaign in Kalaburagi city on Wednesday by putting up posters in favour of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department Minister Priyank Kharge on buses, auto-rickshaw and in public places with quotes “Those who love the Constitution, will love the nation”.
This comes in the wake of the launching of “I Love RSS” poster campaign by the supporters of the RSS organisation in parts of the State on Tuesday.
The posters displaying quotes “Those who love Constitution, will love the nation” and “Those who love nation, will love the people of the nation” with a picture of Priyank Kharge and also photos of the cover page of the Indian Constitution, Buddha, Basaveshwar, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Speaking to the presspersons after putting up posters across the city supporting Mr. Kharge’s stand on RSS, Congress Women’s wing district president Renuka Singhe said that the Minister [Mr. Priyank Kharge] did not call for an outright ban on the RSS; rather, he insisted on banning its activities in government-run institutions. Ms. Singhe expressing concern said that the RSS supporters have shown their vile and malicious side, which poses a grave threat to the country’s future.
She noted that the RSS organisation was banned thrice in the past (1948, 1975 and 1992); in 1948 the then Home Minister Sardar vallabh Bhai Patel issued a government notification banning RSS following the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi; and in 1975 former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi banned RSS during emergency and in 1992, former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao imposed a ban on RSS and other organisations after the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
As a Cabinet Minister, Mr. Kharge tasked with safeguarding the interests of the people, as Minister it was both his right and duty to write hundreds of letters on the matter.
Stance on restricting RSS activities is not just Mr. Kharge’s alone, the six core population of Karnataka will be writing letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a ban on RSS. There is a provision in the law to ban on RSS, if the Constitution is to be uphold, then the RSS must be banned, she opined.
